History of IBCS Group

The IBCS Group was founded in 1990 by Brian Marcel a pioneer of barcoding in the early 80s. Inspired by the close relationship of Margaret Thatcher – Prime Minister of the UK, Ronald Reagan – President of the USA, and Mikhail Gorbachev – President of the USSR he anticipated that Eastern Europe, former Soviet Bloc could open up to the West offering new market opportunities. So, he exhibited in Hungary and Moscow in 1987 making contacts with young potential entrepreneurs from State run Companies. In 1989 the Berlin Wall fell and building on the connections made, Brian allocated shares, finance and best practices to these fledgling entrepreneurs who have built up the IBCS Group over the years to their current dominant market position in the region
